Delta Goodrem scored her biggest coup, wowing US audiences yesterday with a powerhouse performance on the must-see Late Show with David Letterman.

Stefanie Balogh reports that Goodrem, on an assault to crack the lucrative American market, looked stunning in a black off-the-shoulder silky-style blouse as she sat at the piano and sang her hit, In This Life.
Afterwards, Letterman walked over and grabbed her hand.

“Hi, Delta. That was beautiful,” he said.

“Thank you very much. Good to have you with us. Lovely. Delta Goodrem, ladies and gentlemen.”

The glamorous 23-year-old singer and songwriter was meant to share top billing with presidential candidate John McCain.

But the veteran senator pulled out at the last minute to deal with America’s economic woes.

Leaving the stage door in New York, Goodrem was beaming after her Letterman experience.

“I’m thrilled to be here,” she said. “I’m thrilled to be able to do this.

“It was loads of fun.

“It was very exciting to be on it and everyone was really lovely.”

Goodrem will also perform this Sunday at the Here Comes the Sun yoga festival in Central Park.
